Try uninstalling the update and then pause updates.

If that doesn't work, you could download and ISO and reinstall Windows, making sure to keep Apps and Files.

I'm not sure if that would reset your option for preview updates or not.

That fixed it many thanks.

I spoke to soon.  It said it was removing the problem update.  It ran and rebooted.  However, the third and last message was "Oops something went wrong Don't worry Leave your computer on.  Problems remain.  My Steam games won't run at all.  They start but cannot login so no go there since the ones I play are multi-user.

I am going to give-up for now.  They will eventually patch it.  I have had one BSOD for memory management.

Sorry about that. Nothing is more frustrating. I hope you are able to get it fixed.

I have looked at everything.  The support person recommends a show/hide troubleshooter.  I downloaded it and ran it and all it did was say it found no problems.  I posted a question of my own and will look for other options.  More than likely it is going to be 2 weeks of a broken computer thank you very much MS.        .

One really really really good reason to stay with Windows 7 is Microsoft doesn't go near it anymore.

Microsoft doesn't mess with it.....even if you wanted them to.

It can be made safe to be online etc...and it's already safe from MS.

My current Uptime is 142,01,54,40.  That's getting on to half a year.  In fact...it would have been shutdown in March when I was away at the GrandPrix ...then a bit after that when we went on a 9 day road trip..... 142 days ago...

I ran into this issue myself. Apparently if you install 24h2 on a windows 11 pro device it will now automatically turn on bitlocker by default. You have to go in and turn it off manually if you don't want to use it.

It could end up locking any drive for various reasons. For example, if steam games are all on a secondary drive and it were to lock, the games would not load until the drive was unlocked again.

Which is why I'll be using 0Patch for W10...which I enjoy a good deal.

Exactly, PhoenixRising1 . This was the reason I suggested (in reply #6) checking my post on how to obtain one's bitlocker code...in this case to enable a full recovery.

Third try was the charm.  That update is finally gone now and I have a stable computer again.  Many thanks everyone.

This is good news!

There's nothing more frustrating than OS issues.

I keep a cloned SSD of my system, files, and apps. If anything catastrophic happens, I can always switch out the drives. I've had way too many situations like yours. 

Would making and keeping current restore points help with this?
