A little personal place for me and everyone who stops by to hang out.

Well I'm still waiting to solve my computer problem.  I don't have one yet (a computer) .

I called TigerDirect last week and placed an order for one.  They got a pre-auth approved on my account but no matter what I did they would not agree that I was who I said I was and honor my order.  I spent numerous phone calls and emails attempting to address their "concerns" but it was hopeless.  They were content to take my money (I won't say how much) but not "approve my order.  So, I cancelled my "order" which they refused to approve and demanded my money back.  I'm still waiting for it.

So, this week if they don't come to their senses I will be in contact with my state's Consumer Protection Agency and check into the free legal assistance available to me at work.  I did somehow manage to successfully purchase some memory sticks, power supply and graphics card from them in 2007 but this time no luck.  My memory of the transaction then was they also were difficult to work with.  My advice is avoid TigerDirect, their "Order Approval Department" is extremely unreasonable.

On a postive note, I've completed my first full week of work for my new employer, have moved into my new location and have made contact with a local reputable system builder here close to home.  I plan on visiting them tomorrow.

Later all and soon I will be computing again.

Excellent news! I'm looking forward to seeing you around more often.

that's rather odd. i buy stuff from tigerdirect/infotel for myself or customers almost daily and have never had any issues. granted, they do not have the range of products newegg has but if i can get the needed parts at tigerdirect, i do. the main reason for that is i have the parts in hand the next day 90 percent of the time. anyway, good luck with your build!

I've had issues with TigerDirect before. Got something with a mail-in rebate to them, and they took so long (Over a month) to send the order out that it expired and they refused to honor it.

I don't understand how they cannot identify you. You have an order number, a payment number, how you paid and on which day, etc. How can they deny that?

Stop payment on the order, and contact an attorney, the Better Business Bureau and your state consumer protection agency.

Glad you told us. I'll never do business with them.

Something just doesn't sound right, I have used TirgerDirect numerous times and have never had problems.  Anything that I have ordered has been confirmed within less then 24hrs and delivered within five days.  All of that doesn't make a difference with how your experience trying to place an order with them.  I can understand your frustrations with the service you received and not wanting to order from them again.

EDIT: Okay, didn't pay attention as to how you were paying for the order.  Credit orders do at times get messed up.  All of mine have been on a Debit Card.

I've bought from Tiger often but always payed up front.  I've never tried their credit approval option.

You may be having a case of the credit check came back and someone with the same or similar name is having mixed reports with yours.  Sometimes one of the three agencies will list a transaction with a similar but wrong name and it differs from the other two.  It may be they just see a flag for an issue like that.

You can check here https://www.annualcreditreport.com  if you are a U.S. citizen and its the only free check you can do yourself with no strings or other parties involved.  If you are outside U.S.  you can visit each agencies site and usually they will give you one free report--but it varies.  I'd stay away from "free" credit reports elsewhere--they usually aren't.

have moved into my new location

I noticed you said you just moved to a new location. If your card billing address is different than the shipping address could be a problem too.

Good to hear you're working again. That's the main thing and in new digs. Another plus. Tell Tiger you're coming for them with lawyer in tow. They'll straighten up in a hurry.

That might be so.

Okay, I'll try an answer this.  I called TigerDirect on Tuesday 2/15/11.  They took my order and sent me to the "order approval" department.  I used my Debit Card to pay for it.  The address on my Debit Card is current and matches exactly the shipping address and home address I gave them.  TigerDirect complained to me anyway, I faxed them a copy of my Dirvers License(current and correct) my Lease Agreement with my Landlord, copies of letters from my new employer and others.  All of this was inadequate according to TigerDirect.

By Wednesday afternoon 02/16/11 on the phone their "order approval" representative said that if I could just send an email scan of my Drivers License to him maybe they could approve my order then.  They already by this time had my money on the Debit Card pre-auth and the 3 separate faxes I sent them, so I told them approve it now or refund me.  They balked, so I said I hereby cancel my order.  That was at about 1:00pm my time Wednesday 02/16/11. When I got home from work I confirmed they had in fact cancelled my order.  I'm still waiting for them though to return my access to my money by cancelling the pre-auth which still hasn't happened.

On a postive note, I'm sitting in my local computer shop and really like the place.  I'll be buying here and it will be a sweet machine.

Note: I'm in a 3way conference call with the bank and TigerDirect its a zoo to get my funds back.  If I hadn't continued to press for my money from them I'm sure they would have held my money even longer.  The TigerDirect representative was halpful though and it sounds like I will have my money today.

Yep!  They will take your money in an instant, but take 5-10 business days normally to give it back!  Makes you wonder doesn't it?

This happens with anyone with whom you use a debit or credit card, not just TigerDirect.

Not at all. If you can do this to thousands of people, your operating capital will be millions of dollars.

I all of this how come no one mentioned why you didn't buy from Newegg instead? I have never purchased from TigerDirect but have from CompUSA even though they are the same at this point. However I have always purchased at their stores and never online. For some reason I find their site poorly designed which makes me wonder just how good their services are. After reading this I think my suspicions may be confirmed.

Again, how come you didn't try Newegg?

It doesn't much matter, now does it?
